Red Bull Arena, Wals-Siezenheim will be hosting on 31 July 2013, UEFA Champions League(3rd qualifying round) match between Red Bull Salzburg vs Fenerbahce. The match referee will be Duarte Gomes (Portugal).
Salzburg tream will be already in its great form. Roger Schmidt, the
team's manager, has led it to won its three official matches in
this season so far. The 9-0 cup win over third-league club St. Florian
followed two 5-1 wins in the tipp3-Bundesliga against SC Wiener Neustadt
and Austria Wien. Especially the performance at the 5-1 win against
last year's champion Austria Wien was very impressive. For the first
time in the Red Bull era, Salsburg made only few changes in the squad during
the summer transfer period and this would be probably its plan for
success. Not in the squad through injuries are currently the defenders:
Isaac Vorsah, Rodnei and Franz Schiemer; and the midfielders: Valentino
Lazaro and Dusan Svento.
Fenerbahce
team was banned by the UEFA for the current European Cup season because of the
betting scandal in Turkish football season 2010/2011. It
protested and can compete in the Champions League qualification, though the
process is still in progress. The final decision will be made on August, 28. It is possible that Fenerbahce will be locked again. Back to
sporting themes: similar to Salzburg also Fenerbahce Istanbul hold its
key-players during the transfer period. In addition to this, it has strengthen its squad through the new signings: Bruno Alves, Michal Kadlec (both
defenders), Alper Potuk and Samuel Holmen (both midfielders). Right
defender, Gönül (build-up training after injury lay-off), will be absent in
the meetings against Red Bull Salzburg.
