Liverpool challenge for top spot in English Premier League standings suffered another blip as this weekend they picked a slender defeat over fellow title rivals, Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Looking keen on redeeming their midweek defeat from Manchester City, The Reds were pushing forward early in that encounter as they went one goal up after just three minutes of play through Martin Skrtel's close range finish. That early blow triggered positive response from the Blues as they were pouring forward vigorously and eventually got back on level terms with an excellent effort from Eden Hazard on 17 minutes.
That equalizing goal gave more confidence for Chelsea as they kept on pressing hard and eventually turning things around with a fine finish from Samuel Eto'o on 34 minutes. Leading 2-1 in the first 45 minutes, The Blues were much more keen in maintaining solidity after the break instead of going on an aggressive attacking rampage. That tactical approach went well for Jose Mourinho's men as although failing to extend their lead, the home side were able to keep that slender lead up till the final whistle was blown.

Chelsea 2-1 Liverpool
4′ 0-1 Skrtel M. // 17′ Eden Hazard 1-1 // 34′ Samuel Eto´o 2-1
