Newcastle United team are back in the relegation zone after disappointing defeats
against Leicester (3-0) and Crystal Palace (5-1). The Magpies have just
one league win to their name at home this season and need to quickly
turn their fortunes around if they are to pull away from the bottom
three. Time is running out for Steve McClaren and another heavy defeat
could spell the beginning of the end of his short stay on Tyneside.
Papiss Cisse was recalled in place of Aleksandar Mitrovic last weekend, and after getting on the scoresheet, is expected to keep his starting berth. Vurnon Anita and Jack Colback appear likely to start as the centre midfield pairing once again, with Moussa Sissoko and Georginio Wijnaldum also set to keep their places in the starting XI. Coach Steve McClaren has recalled defender Mike Williamson from a loan spell at Wolves.

Liverpool are absolutely flying with 7 win in their last 8 matches in
all competitions including some stunning performances as the midweek 6-1
victory over Southampton in League Cup preceded by 3-1 and 4-1
successes over Chelsea and Manchester City respectively. The Reds have been
excellent away from home under Jurgen Klopp having netting 14 goals in
their last four competitive game
Coutinho continues to struggle with a hamstring injury, though, and is expected to miss out again. Emre Can is suspended while Daniel Sturridge and Christian Benteke are in contention for the lone striker berth. Joe Gomez, Danny Ings, Mamadou Sakho and Jon Flanagan remain long-term absentees.
The hosts have won just one of the last six EPL meetings against the Reds. That victory came last season at St James' Park when Newcastle recorded a 1-0 triumph over Brendan Rodgers's Liverpool. The Magpies have conceded at least 2 goals in 8 of their last 10 matches in the English Premier League.
