Real Madrid team failed to grab a win in the first
leg of their Spanish Super Cup battle against Atletico as both
teams shared a 1-1 draw at Santiago Bernebau.
Eager to maintain
their positive home match up against Atletico, Madrid immediately took
control of proceedings, but overcoming Diego Simeone's men were far from
an easy task.
No goals were scored during the first 45 minutes
and things got rather irritating for Madrid since their star man,
Cristiano Ronaldo picked up an injury in that half.
In the second
half, Los Blancos continue to dominate despite playing without Ronaldo
and their dominance was eventually rewarded with a goal from James
Rodriguez on 81 minutes.
However, a slack defending on corner gave
Atletico a shout back into that tie as Raul Garcia nodded home an
equalizing goal two minutes before the full 90 minutes mark.
