Huseyin Avni Aker Stadi will be hosting on 18 July 2013, an UEFA Europa League, Qualification 2. round match between Trabzonspor vs Derry City. The match referee will be Artyom Kuchin (KAZ).
Though Trabzonspor team has finished the last season in the 9th place; it managed to attend into UEFA Europa League adventure by being a finalist of the last season's Turkish Cup. It had to face a narrow defeat in the final Fenerbahce. But, in the new season, it faced some changes. The team board appointed Mustafa Akcay who has been very successful as the coach of 1461 Trabzon, which is a brother team of Trabzonspor and did a great job in the 1st League instead of Tolunay Kafkas. In transfer, Serkan Balci and Halil Altintop left the team. Aykut Demir from Genclerbirligi was tranferred in. From the brother team, Fatih Ozturk and Yusuf Erdogan were also signed in. Also, in this midweek, the board signed Chelsea man Malouda; but he will not play in both fixtures. In addition to him, Zokora, Cech, Sapara, Emerson and Janko were included in UEFA list. Thus, they are all ineligible. Their biggest disadvantage is that they have started training two or three weeks ago.
Derry City team is standing with four points deficit and average in the 3rd place of the Irish Premier League. Its coach is Declan Devine and it lost its last two league fixtures. It was not able to use Rory PAtterson, who was injured in its last league fixture against Shamrock Rovers; but he recovered and travelled with the team to Trabzon; but Thomas Crawley, whose his name is not given to UEFA's list, is ineligible. Except Patterson, there are young attackers in its offence line. It is the same situation in the defence line too. Except, Greacen, there are young defenders. It means that being inexperienced could be a big problem for coach Declan Devine's side.
