Arsenal vs West Ham Premier League 15-04-2014

Arsenal vs West Ham United
Football: England, Premier League, Game week 34th

Arsenal team are going through a crisis. Recently, they have squandered their title chances. In the league they won for the last time on the 16th of March against Tottenham. Then they suffered a devastating defeat from Chelsea London (6:0), two draws with Swansea and Man City. During last game week the Gunners could not win against their direct rivals for the place in Champions League’s qualifiers Everton. The Toffees won 3:0. Arsenal did not play during the weekend in the league because they had their FA Cup semi-final against Wigan Athletic. The game was really tough for Wenger’s boys but only after the penalty shootout. It was Wigan who took the lead after being awarded with a penalty in the 63rd minute of the game. Then it was the German defender Mertesacker who gave the Gunners the equalizer. During the shootout the Polish goalkeeper Łukasz Fabiański saved the first two penalties and eventually Arsenal won 4:2 on penalties.
West Ham are sitting rather safe in the Premiership. Being 7 points clear of the drop zone and having only five games till the end of the season should be enough to maintain their place in the Premiership. During the last game week the Hammers hosted at Upton Park the current leaders Liverpool. Steven Gerrard took the advantage of two penalties the Reds were awarded with and these were enough for the visitors to win 1:2. When it comes to the other recent performances of West Ham, they won against Sunderland on the road and against Hull City at home. The Hammers have got still a few difficult games in front of them, e.g. Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City in the two final game weeks of this season.
