Real Madrid failed to maintain their table topping seat in Spanish La Liga after suffering a disappointing home defeat over Barcelona at Santiago Bernebau stadium on Sunday.

Eager to avenge their defeat in previous meeting, Los Blancos were keen for a bright start, but instead of going ahead, they found themselves trailing after only seven minutes of play through Andres Iniesta.
Real Madrid bounced back rapidly though as they got back on level terms thanks to Karim Benzema's header on 20 minutes. Four minutes later, Los Blancos turned things around, again from Benzema's effort.
FC Barcelona got back on level terms just before half time break with an effort from Lionel Messi, triggering a tense second half.
In the second period, it was a penalty fest as the referee awarded three spot kicks, with Madrid earning it first and was converted by Cristiano Ronaldo on 55 minutes.
However, Messi turned things around again as he leveled the score 65 minutes, before sealing all three points with his second penalty on 84 minutes.
