Fritz-Walter Stadion, Kaiserslautern (Germany) will be hosting on 14 August 2013, an International friendly match between Germany and Paraguay. The match referee will be Ivan Bebek.
Germany is becoming closer to the FIFA World Cup 2014 in Brazil. It is the only team which wins most of the matches in Group C: five wins and one draw. After playing six matches, it has a five-point advantage to the hardest rivals: Austria, Sweden and Republic of Ireland. Hence, Germany is going to be the top favourite team to win this Group. In the last test match, before the important qualifiers in months September and October, manager Joachim Löw passes on Mario Götze, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Toni Kroos.
In addition to this, Schalke's youngster Julian Draxler injured in the Bundesliga match against HSV on Sunday and so he will miss the friendly match against Paraguay.
Paraguay will miss the World Cup 2014. The "Albirroja" is at the bottom of the list in the South American qualifying. Before the last four fixtures, Paraguay have an eight-point deficit to fifth-placed Uruguay (note: the fifth advances to the play-offs). After the 1/2 home defeat in the last qualifier against Chile manager, Gerardo Pelusso, retired as Paraguay's head-coach and so the former under-20 coach Victor Genes will manage the team in the friendly match against Germany. The famous players in Paraguay's squad are: Roque Santa Cruz (FC Malaga, previously Bayern München) and left defender Lorenzo Melgarejo (Benfica Lissabon). Not listed are the players: Oscar Cardozo and Nelson Valdez.
