Roma will be hosting on 18 August 2013, an Italian Super Cup match between Juventus and Lazio at Stadio Olimpico. The match referee will be G. Rocchi.
Juventus team has finished the recent International Champions
Cup in last place and without a win. The team
stunned 3-1 by Los Angeles Galaxy in a pre-season tournament, and also
lost on penalties to: Everton, Inter Milan and Milan AC. Jeventus has failed to give a good performance in any of its last four friendly matches
and it has conceded 24 goals in 38 games last season. The team has brought in some good attackers over
the summer, who are: Tevez, Llorente and Ogbonna. The Argentinian attacker is in line to make his competitive
debut, while the former, Torino defender, will sit on the bench. Players Andrea Barzagli and Simone Pepe are unlikely to
feature. But, Vucinic is set to play alongside Carlos Tevez.
Lazio team has struggled to cope with the busy schedule in the last term, and it finished in
seventh place in domestic league. The team played well in pre-season as it
defeated Crystal Palace in its final warm-up game.
The Biancocelesti has been boosted by the addition of midfielders:
Lucas Biglia and Felipe Anderson from Anderlecht and Santos respectively. And captain, Stefano Mauri, was banned for six months due to his part in a
match-fixing scandal. Players: Modibo Diakite and Mauro Zarate have left the club
during the summer and player Saha announced his retirement. Also, Brazilian newcomer
Felipe Anderson will miss the match because of his ankle injury.
In 1998, Juventus and Lazio met in the Italian Super Cup,
and the match ended 2-1 for Lazio. Last year, at the
Stadio Olimpico, Lazio beat Juventus 2-1 on its way to the Italian Cup final, where it beat
alos bitter rivals Roma.
